NIW 2020 kicked off with its first virtual celebration

The first week of the National Inventors’ Week (NIW) Webinar Series has explored on the topics on the ease of doing business in the new normal and motivating inventors to create innovative products for the new normal and beyond on 03 and 06 November 2020, respectively.
Co-organized by the Filipino Inventors Society (FIS), Inc. and the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI), the webinar series sets the mood for inventors and would-be inventors to create inventions and innovations in the advent of the new normal.
It also intends to streamline the procedures of online transactions in making dealings easier particularly in filing for registrations or requesting for funding support from appropriate institutions.

FIS, DOST-TAPI commence second webinar series

In celebration of the National Inventors Week (NIW) for 2020, the Filipino Inventors Society (FIS), Inc. in partnership with the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) promulgated a comprehensive eight webinar series for November.
The webinar series highlights the different government initiatives in support to inventors and innovators in the new normal.
Further, it recognizes key inventors and innovations that empower economic growth.
The 2nd Webinar Series, “Inventor in the New Normal: Motivating Inventors to Create Innovative Products for the New Normal and Beyond,” will be held on 06 November 2020 and will feature resource speakers to inspire seasonal and would-be inventors.

DOST-TAPI program leads techno-preneurship among students

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. De La Peña announced the approval of the clinical trials for lagundi (Vitex negundo) to determine its effectiveness in fighting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the recent news and public briefing on 01 August 2020.
“Lagundi tablet or syrup is a proven bronchodilator with its registered indication for the treatment of cough,” added De La Peña.
In fact, the miracles of lagundi in helping immune response can be traced back in 2007 when students from Ilocos Norte developed lagundi as a source of antibiotics for the broiler production project implemented by the College of Agriculture and Forestry in the Dingras Campus of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU).
